Tai Tzu Ying set up another dream final against the Olympic champion, Carolina Marin from Spain at Singapore Open. This was a repetition of previous weeks final at Malaysia Open.
Tai went into the final preparing for another marathon battle against Marin, but when the game got started things did not turn as expected with the windy conditions in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Marin seemed to be in a rush to score her points, with the consequence of making easy mistakes while Tai kept her calm and patience to score her points. After the interval in both sets, Tai managed to get the crucial gap with secured her 5th Super Series title in a row with the final score of 21-15 21-15.
During the entire week, Tai seemed to have had the upper hand against her opponents as she clinched the title without dropping any single set during the week.

No other women's singles player has won 5 Super Series titles in a row. Tai remains her unbeaten record in 2017 with stunning 15 of 15 wins.
Korea did not make it into any final of the Singapore Open, but they had 5 players/pairs making it into the semifinal.
Lee So Hee/Chang Ye Na and Shin Seung Chan/Jung Kyung Eun have been consistent in their performances for a long period of time and are a battle for any pair in the world. Sung Ji Hyun missed the final with a loss to Marin, nonetheless, the past three weeks has been converted into three semifinals. Lee Dong Keun grabbed his chances and made it to the last four which is his best Super Series result. Kim Gi Jung/Shin Seung Chan fought their way into the semifinal before losing to the world no. 2 Chinese pair.

Malaysia’s younger hope in mixed doubles Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing made it to their first Super Series semifinal together before losing a close match against a Thai pair. On their way, Tan/Lai managed to beat the experienced pair from Denmark and world no. 5, Fischer/Pedersen.
