This week in Fuzhou, China, World No.1 team Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong will be defending their title as the men’s doubles champion of the VICTOR 2013 China Open. Lee has had a wonderful history at this tournament, achieving three-peat with the now retired Jung Jae Sung between years 2008-2010. He was also the 2008 and 2009 mixed doubles winner with Lee Hyo-Jung.

Record to be made
Liliyana Natsir could win a record third mixed doubles title at the event. She’s the 2007 champion with Nova Widianto, with whom she also took two World Championships victories. Last year, she partnered Tontowi Ahmad and won again.

Match not to miss
Chou Tien Chen, who just recently made the top 10 debut after winning his first Superseries event at the French Open and his third consecutive title at the Bitburger Open, will battle last week’s winner at the Jeonju VICTOR Korea Grand Prix, Lee Dong Keun, in one of the first-round men’s singles actions.

Did you know?
Since Zhang Wei/Zhang Jun in 2001, the Chinese players have never secured the title in men’s doubles in a span of 12 years. They could have achieved “sweeps” in 2003, 2006, and 2010-2012 when they took the wins in all other four disciplines.
